The two witness signatures at the foot of an illuminated ketubah written in SAFED, 13 Adar 5642 = 1882. National Library of Israel record 990003034930205171 (original: Zucker Family collection, New York). This image is the lower band of the document, enlarged. The NLI catalogue records the parties as: groom Shimon ben Yaakov Levi; bride Roza bat Avraham Wolf Ashkenazi; witness David ben Shalom Malka; witness "[Moshe] Haim Malul" - with "Moshe" in square brackets, i.e. supplied by the cataloguer. Both signatures are dense Sephardi monogram flourishes and I cannot read either. I would be very grateful if someone could: 1. Transcribe both signatures. 2. Say which of the two is the Malul signature, and whether the given name written is Haim alone or Moshe Haim. I research Rabbi Moshe Haim Malul, born in Safed, later rabbi of Tanta in Egypt. This is the earliest trace of him I have found and the only example of his hand. Thank you very much.
