Attached is the last page of a 1934 letter sent by my great-grandfather Abram (Abrasha) Riskin, from Haifa, to my great-grandmother Bronya Levin, who was apparently staying at a Safed hotel to recover from an illness. The page notes in Hebrew the settlement of Nahalal, to which I believe Abram submitted an application to be employed as a local physician. I would appreciate your assistance in the translation of the letter. Thank you.

В доме всё благополучно, мама захотела заболеть, и я ей не дал, и она, слава Богу, здорова. — За Меркой я слежу и не спускаю её с глаз — дал ей 10 пиастров для прогулки в ГГдJ, купил ей специальную дорожную бутылку для воды, обеспечил её провизией на дорогу — на полдня, проверяю ежедневно уроки — остаюсь по вечерам больше дома для неё, не пошёл сегодня на заседание, чтоб завтра утром рано встать и проводить её в школу, откуда они отправляются на прогулку. В веселой Хайфе я по вечерам стараюсь быть дома, если это возможно, с тем чтоб отдохнуть. Сейчас половина девятого вечера, Мерочка спит спокойно — я в серой комнате один и пишу тебе. Мои письма никогда тебе не нравились ни слогом своим и даже тоном, а между тем я определённо не хочу тебе причинять неприятности, а чувствую, что распустил язык, а потому закончу, а ты выполни свою задачу с честью — будет для тебя всё — и все расклеенное склей крепким клеем — есть в тебе так много жизни — но тебе досадно, что я могу получить от этого удовольствие — уступить раз в жизни, и жизнь приобретёт новую форму и интерес. Целую, твой мещанин Абраша.

I check her lessons every day, stay home more in the evenings for her sake, and didn’t go to the meeting today so that I can get up early tomorrow morning and take her to school, from where they set off for a walk. In cheerful Haifa, I try to be at home in the evenings, if possible, so that I can relax. It’s half past eight in the evening, Merochka is sleeping peacefully — I’m alone in the gray room and I’m writing to you. My letters have never pleased you, neither in style nor even in tone, and yet I certainly don’t want to cause you any trouble. I feel that I’ve let my tongue run away with me, so I’ll stop now, and you carry out your task with honor — everything will be for you — and glue everything back together with strong glue. You have so much life in you — but you’re annoyed that I might get pleasure from it. Give in once in your life, and life will take on a new form and interest. Kisses, your philistine Abraša.
