Four crops from one Jewish birth register, same clerk throughout. Panel A is a known, undisputed SALZ. Panels B and C are the mother's maiden surname in two acts of the same family — act 128 of 1903 and act 107 of 1905 — reading "Reisel geb. [?] rituell an Menasche Mandel, Handl. Tochter des Simmer a. der Feige, Händler in Bóbrka." Panel D gives the whole of column 7 for context.

My question is narrow: in panels B and C, is the maiden surname the same word as panel A — that is, is it SALZ? If not, what do you read?

I would much rather have "cannot be determined" than a confident guess — this bears on a citizenship application and the reading needs to be reliable.

First, I am not a pro at Kurrant - I struggle with it, and German records sometimes use Kurrant and Latin script together.
It does appear to me that all the names in question (Latin script) are Salz - sometimes the top if the "a" is not totally closed, and the "z" varies in shape, but it does appear to be "z" to me.
As an aside, what you have as Menasche Mandel Handl, with "Handel" in a Kurrant, I think that might be Hirsch.

It appears that a descender from the previous line crosses the letter z in the name. If this is the case, then the name is indeed Salz. For confirmation, include the previous line in the image. The script is ordinary Latin cursive.

Yes the maiden name is Salz in all instances. I would just add that she is the daughter of Summer (not Simmer) & Feige ("Tochter des Summer & der Feige").

Thank you all — three of you answered this within a few hours, and between you it settled more than I asked.

The maiden surname is Salz, which I can now treat as confirmed rather than probable. One of you also explained why it had been misread — a descender from the line above crossing the word — and that turned out to be measurable and correct; it was not something I could have worked out alone.

And one of you corrected Reisel's father from Simmer to Summer, unprompted. I had been searching archives under a name that does not exist. That one correction saved me weeks of null results.
