Hadas [hah-DAHSS] is a lovely name meaning myrtle. A similar, and more common, version of the name is Hadassah.

Reb is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

our teacher, the rabbi, Yitzchak Izek son of Reb Hillel

He passed away 2 Shvat 5714

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

His name is preceded by an abbreviation that represents the words “our teacher, the rabbi”. This normally indicates that the person had rabbinical ordination, not necessarily that he was the rabbi of a synagogue or community. I need to point out that this abbreviation occasionally appears in error (or, sometimes, simply as words of praise to indicate that the person was scholarly), so I would suggest trying to get confirmation of his rabbinical status – if any – from a second source.

Yitzchak [YITS-chahk, with the ch as in Chanukah or Bach] is Hebrew for Isaac. Izek [EYE-zeck] is Yiddish for Isaac. Yitzchak Izek is a common 'double' name.

Hillel [HILL-lel] was the name of a famous Rabbi.

The 2nd day of the month of Shvat in the year 5714 began at sunset on January 5th, 1954, and ended at sunset on the 6th. The secular date on the stone is the 5th, which means that he passed away between sunset and midnight of that day.
