My grandmothers ...mother called Doba ... I think ....

Ok the challenge is this

does it say what doba's father did for a living or where they came from??

Hello,
Doba's father, who was 50 years old at the time of the registration, has an profession called "markier." This certainly isn't an profession in standard modern Polish, and I'm having some difficulty tracking down exactly what it means, but I think it refers to someone who manages accounts of some sort at an establishment. One dictionary puts the term in the specific context of game scores, but I'm not sure that applies here.

Birth records don't usually record the origin of a family, only their residence. In this case, it says the family was residing in Warsaw in House No. 1014, which is also where Doba was born.

174. It took place on the twenty-second day of February in the year of eighteen forty-six, at the hour of four in the afternoon, in Warsaw. Before me, the Civil Registrar for the Non-Christian Community of Districts Seven and Eight, personally appeared the Jew Wolf Kloc, a trader in victuals, eighty-two years of age, residing at number 1434, on behalf of the father who was unable to appear personally due to the duties he was fulfilling, accompanied by the witnesses, the Jews Lewek Jungfer, a writer at a bill broker’s office, twenty-eight years of age, residing at number 1411, and Szmul Koniger, a trader in books, forty-five years of age, residing at number 1404, both residing here in Warsaw, and he presented to us a child of the female sex, born on the eighth day of February of the current year, at the hour of five in the morning, at number 1014, declaring that she had been lawfully begotten by the Jews Lemel Szmul Sztrytyner, fifty years of age, a marker, and Necha the daughter of Chaim, thirty-six years of age, his wife, both residing at the above-mentioned number. She was given the first name Doba. In addition to that, he remarked that the reason for the delay in drawing up the act was that the child had been weak. This act was read aloud to the appearer and witnesses and signed by them.
