This is a postcard that I believe was sent to my grandmother (Regina Waldman = Frau Waldman in the address line) by her father while he was in the army. The front of the postcard is a photo of several men dressed in military attire, and I see the Military paper stamp on the card. I am not sure of the year because I don't understand the 15XII stamp. Regina was born in 1912, so I would guess it is stamped a date after that.

The postcard was written in pencil, so I'd like to get a translation of what he wrote before it's completely faded. It looks to me like it starts with Liebe Frau and ends with Papa but I can't decipher anything else.

Marisa, the writer of this card was just barely literate and it’s hard to interpret much of the handwriting. I would normally provide an exact translation but there’s too much that I can’t make sense of. Perhaps another volunteer can decipher more of it. I believe the card was sent from a military hospital and the writer (Papa) complains to his wife that she hasn’t written (enough); his comrades have been getting more mail from home.

I interpret the postmark as 29 March 1915, 12 p.m.

I believe that even today the city of Mannheim uses block numbers rather than street names in its postal addresses.
