i would be grateful for a translation of the language above Philip's name -- I'm trying to find his Hebrew/Yiddish name and ideally that of his father. (I apologize for the angled photo, which is the only one I received.) Many thanks!!

He passed away on the eve of Rosh Chodesh Adar 5714

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

Pinchas is a Biblical name. It is pronounced PIN-chahss, with the ch as in Chanukah or Bach.

Reb is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

Sender is a Yiddish name derived from Alexander (which has been a "Jewish" name ever since Alexander the Great spared the city of Jerusalem during his global conquests. Jews began naming their children after him as a sign of gratitude).

Philip died on the "eve of Rosh Chodesh" of the month of Adar. Without going into complex details, Rosh Chodesh was a two-day event, so it is not exactly clear which of two possible days are meant. The corresponding secular dates would be either from sunset on February 1st to sunset of February 2nd, or from sunset on the 2nd to sunset on the 3rd, of the year 1954.
