On  Response
6/21/2026 8:09 PM On the roof of the stone is the abbreviation for "Here Lies"
My dear husband Shlomo son of
Yerachmiel Tzvi. Died 14 Tamuz
Year 5673
38 years of age
May his soul be bound up in the bond of life. (acronym)

6/21/2026 8:39 PM Shlomo is Hebrew for Solomon.

Yerachmiel [yeh-rahch-MEE-ayl, with the ch as in Chanukah or Bach, is a Biblical name that means "G-d shall have mercy".

Tzvi is Hebrew for deer. The Yiddish word for deer is Hirsh/Hersh. For this reason, some men with Tzvi as part of their religious name have a secular name that sounds similar, such as Harry, Harold, Herbert, etc.

The 14th of Tamuz, 5673, corresponds to July 18th/19th, 1913.

(By the way, if this is someone important to you, and you would like to mark the Jahrzeit/Yohrzeit [anniversary of the date of death] by, for example, lighting a memorial candle or giving charity in his memory or doing an act of kindness, etc., the 14th of Tamuz is coming up soon. This year, it will begin at sunset next Sunday, the 28th of June, and will end at sunset on Monday.
