Avraham Farkas was my great grandfather (Satu Mare, Hungary region) and my uncle Stanley Farkas had this photo. My grandfather Jacob (arrived NYC,1932, birth in "Combausa, Roumania") and great uncle Shmuel (survived WW2 (wife & children murdered), arrived Israel, lived in Petah Tikvah) were the only of Avraham's children known to survive.

1. I would like to find the plaque's location (likely NYC or Petah Tikvah?)
2. I would like to make sure that the names are registered at Yad Vashem and/or other relevant places to honor the victims.
3. I would like to find any other genealogical information and history related to my family that the information in the plaque can lead to

I appreciate any assistance anyone can offer, or if you can point me to the appropriate person or resource who can help.

Hi Allan
My Farkas family were from the same area!
On my tree my grandfather had an uncle with the name of Zev and my grandfather’s name was Mayer.
They lived in Carei/Nagy Karoly, Marghitta, Tasnad and other nearby towns according to my grandfather who left us a lot of information. Other towns included Kisvarda and the Cluj area.
My male Farkases, my father, uncle, brother and cousins were Cohanim and this showed up when we did DNA testing. There is another branch of Farkases in the same area who were not cohanim that are more distantly related. I am a close friend (more distant cousin) with one of them who tested.
Did you do DNA? We all tested on FTDNA, and I uploaded to MyHeritage and Gedmatch. I also tested on ancestry.
I did find a plaque for a lot of Farkases in Carei. It is a pillar with lots of names I think where the synagogue stood. I can find it on my computer files and send it to you.
I have a pretty extensive tree. I worked with a genealogist who got me pictures of actual records in the archives plus my grandfather had pictures of graves where the names of family that were murdered were added to an existing grave.

For anyone interested:

It looks like I found the answer. This is the footstone at Shmuel Farkash's grave. There is a similar stone at his second wife Zelda's grave.

The photo was in Sarah Farkas's possession, and she died about 10 years before Shmuel, so my conjecture is that the stone was made well in advance, possibly at the same time as Zelda's headstone.

The only remaining question I have is who are Hava daughter of Alexander Menachem and her son Alexander Menachem. I believe Shmuel had several children who were murdered in the holocaust, so they are unlikely his direct family.
