Here lies

the modest and respected woman

the crowning glory of her husband and the honor of her household

ESTHER [?]

She passed away and was buried ...

1941 5691

May her soul be bound up in the bond of life.

Her name seems to have been Esther, but it is apparently spelled using Yiddish spelling conventions, rather than Hebrew.

Even though the two broken pieces seem to "fit" together, I am wondering whether perhaps the was more to the stone, but it had worn away and one of the pieces was shaped so that it would 'match' the other. I say this because there may have been additional text. The month and date of her death are missing.

In addition, the years do not match each other. If the year was 1941, then the Hebrew year would have been 5701/5702. If the year was 5691, then the secular year would have been 1930/1931.
