Lewartowski was "picked out" already on Umschlagplatz. In the last days, the old man was totally broken down. There was the question of saving people individually and getting them over to the Aryan side. Ziuta got out earlier and was to communicate addresses and contacts. One day she let it know that that premises on Nowogrodzka (street) were unavailable, after which contact with her was broken.
There was no foothold on the Aryan side. Lewartowski had no hope of staying alive. Without help from outside, he felt lost. For a length of time, I was helping him hide. But, one day, he was taken.

punkt zahaczenia sie = I translate as foothold; literally, it is a point one hooks onto, grabs onto, etc.
