Translation of the tombstone.....

Top: Hebrew letters between the Jewish stars, Pey & Nun,
stand for "Here lies".

Text: "My dear husband, Binyamin Ben/(son of) Reb/(honorific title) Yosef, died on Sunday Rosh Hodesh Adar II (followed by the Hebrew year). May his soul be bound up in the everlasting bonds of life."

Lots of explanations here...

Ben = son of

Reb = honorific title before the given name(s) of a Jewish male. It does NOT imply rabbi.

Hebrew letter Aleph = Sunday

Rosh Hodesh = the first day of each Hebrew month

Adar II = is a second leap month of Adar, which occurs approximately every two or three years.

In a Hebrew leap year a leap month is added; a second month of Adar. The first day of Adar II began after sundown on March 3.

Binyamin is Hebrew for Benjamin; Binyamin was one of the twelve tribes of Israel.

'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

Yosef is Joseph.

In a Jewish leap year, the standard twelfth month, Adar, is replaced by two months: Adar I and Adar II.

“Rosh Chodesh”, literally the head of the month, also known as the New Moon, indicates the start of a new month. It can be a one-day or a two-day event. In this case, it was two days, and the first day of Rosh Chodesh of the month of Adar II was actually the 30th day of the previous month, Adar I. In the year 5698, this date began at sunset on Wednesday, March 2nd, 1938, and ended at sunset on Thursday, the 3rd.

(While the letter Alef can sometimes represent Sunday [in which case it would not stand alone, but be preceded by the Hebrew word Yom], here it represents the first day [of Rosh Chodesh]).
