It's primarily the type of handwriting that's a challenge for me.

First - am I correct that there is a birth 02 AUG 1817 of a child named Samuel Bloch, whose father was Jakob Bloch?

Second - there's an entry for a child born 1 AUG 1817, a girl, which is bracketed with Samuel, and the father's name looks the same to me. Is this a twin sister of Samuel, and what is her name?

Yes, I believe you are correct on all points!

The name of the girl born on 1 August looks like "Schenle" to me. (I am not familiar with the name, but it might be a variant of the common Yiddish "Scheindel.")

I understand that the girl's grandmother was called Schaindel, and variations of that name, so what you say makes sense in that context.

I too have never seen the name Schenle before, but there are three of them on this page alone!

Jeanette Schenle died Dec 9, 1817.
You probably know that Samuel Bloch married Lea Neuburger, one of at least 12 children of Josef Neuburger and Theresie Bloch.
