Masha is a Yiddish name. Shoshana means rose (see below). 'Reb' is an honorific; Yaakov is Jacob.

I have always "known" that Shoshana is a rose. The translation as lily was new to me. Some quick research tells me that both translations are correct, although it seems that a lily is more commonly called a Shoshan.

In the biblical Song of Solomon, the object of the love interest is at one point described as being "kaShoshana bayn haChochim", which translates to "like a rose among the thorns". To the best of my knowledge, lilies do not have thorns, so the translation of Shoshana, at least in this particular phrase, would have to be "rose".
