Synagogue/Society Description: The establishment of the Jewish cemetery in Kysucké Nové Mesto (in the past Kiszuca仼hely) can be dated to the beginning of the 19th century. After WW II. was the cemetery abandoned and used as a waste dump for many years. Most tombstones were stolen or destroyed. In 2020-2022 volunteers removed 500 tons of garbage and repaired the cemetery, the found gravestones were re-erected. More see on: https://zilina-gallery.sk/index.php?/category/1736. Currently, there are 107 gravestones or their remains or grave sites in the cemetery, another 16 fragments are by the wall in the upper part of the cemetery. There is also an information board and a list of Holocaust victims on the wall. During the reconstruction of the cemetery, in some cases parts of one tombstone were placed in different places. Unidentifiable gravestone remains are not included in the list.
