| Cemetery Description: |
Trstín Cemetery, Trstín, SLOVAKIA. 120 burials total.
The larger cemetery (16 acres) by the road to Záhorie in the foothills of the Little Carpathians is delimited by a stone fence preserved for 3/4 of its length. Today, it contains nearly two hundred tombstones, half of which are broken. It was stated in the literature that the Jewish cemetery in Trstín existed as early as 1695, or possibly in 1680, but in the following period it would have had to decay or even disappear. At the end of the 18th century, the cemetery was restored, possibly on its original site. 175 tombstones or their remains were found in the cemetery, data could be obtained from 109 of them. The author of the cemetery map and most of the photographs is Mr. Stanislav Chromek, who kindly made them available.
