This information was obtained from the article by Professor Steven Bowman "Hebrew Epitaphs of Mistra," edited with Daniel Spiegel in Michael VIII(1981):201 247; Greek translation in 1982. Indexed with permission of Steven Bowman. The first 49 graves were located by Daniel Spiegel on site in Mistra and the other 26 were from a manuscript by a French researcher named Fourmont who visited Mistra in 1829 after the destruction of the Jewish community in 1821 and made a hasty transcription of some of the graves he saw.
