Cemetery Description: The Cemitério Israelita do Barro, in Recife, founded on April 5, 1927, was inaugurated on June 2, 1927. There is not much difference between it and other cemeteries that appeared at the same time. The occupation of space is similar. The difference is in the tombstones: the most worked ones have inscriptions in Hebrew letters in high relief. They look more sophisticated than others from the same era. There must have been a high-quality marble worker in the City. The iconography is not very varied. There are porcelain portraits, but the use of the metal medallion stands out to portray the dead. There are three: Maria Krutman, by Henriques Levites and by Abram Cherpak. Data graciously made available by the authors of the book, "Os Primeiros Judeus De Sao Paulo. Uma breve historia contada atraves do Cemiterio Israelita de Vila Mariana". Published by Fraiha, 2009, Sao Paulo
