New Jewish cemetery in Vienna with graves from 1918-present. Data compiled by Mag. Walter Pagler. On August 17, 1938, legislation forced German Jews to adopt the middle name of either "Israel" or "Sarah" if the bearer did not already have a very distinct Jewish name. Some of the records from this cemetery during the period 1938 - 1945 reflect that legislation and doesn't meant that those middle names are the deceased's actual name.
