Pinkas from the Tomsk Jewish Community

Background:

This is a transcription of a pinkas from the Tomsk Jewish community. It covers the deaths of the entire Tomsk uezd or district during the years 1859-1900.  There are approximately 2,500 entries.
The fields of information include:
  • Surname
  • Given Name
  • Father's Name
  • Some Spouse's Names
  • Christian Date of Death
  • Hebrew Date of Death
  • Place of Death
  • Place of Residence. 
  • There are also many notes about the deceased such a former soldier, husband or wife of resident of X village, etc. 

The original pages of this volume which is still located in Siberia, were photographed by the Center for Jewish Art, Hebrew University of Jerusalem as part of one of their Siberian expeditions to document Jewish life and art.
