Moroccan Jewish Communal Officers, 1954

BACKGROUND

This is a list of the officers of the Moroccan Jewish community in 1954. The official umbrella organization of the Jewish community in Morocco, the Conseil des Communautes Israelites du Maroc, had a published a list of of communal officers of the principal Jewish communities. It was entitled Liste des bureau du Conseil et des Comites de Communautes Israelites au Maroc, and it was published in the newspaper La Voix des Communautes on May 1, 1954. The list included those who chaired the umbrella organization as well as the Presiden, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer for the following Jewish communities: Azemmour, Agadir, Ben-Ahmed, Beni-Mellal, Berguent, Berkane, Berrechid, Boudenib, Boujad, Casablanca, Debdou, Demnate, El-Ayoun, El-Kelaa, Erford, Fedala, Fes, Goulmina, Inezgane, Kasba-Tadla, Ksar-es-Souk, Marrakech, Martimprey, Mazagan, Meknes, Midelt, Missour, Mogador, Oeud-Zem, Ouezzane, Oujda, Ourika, de Port-Lynutey, Rabat, Rich, Rissani, Sale, Sefrou, Settat, Souk-el-Arba, Talsint, Tinejdad, Tiznit, Taourirt, Taza, and Taroudant. Only the city of Safi was noted that the names of the community officers were absent from the chart.

This database includes 207 entries of Jews from Morocco that served the Jewish community.

  • Organization (Usually which Jewish community served)
  • Surname
  • Given name
  • Position (Either President, Vice-President, Secretaire, or Tresorier) The French language positions have been retained from the original document.
