Beit Theresienstadt Index

Background

The Beit Terezin index lists 162,224 Jews from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and other European countries, who were imprisoned in the Theresienstadt Ghetto.

This index has been donated to JewishGen by Beit Theresienstadt (Beit Terezin), which was established on Givat Haim Ihud, Israel in 1975 as a non-profit organization in memory of the Jewish Martyrs of Ghetto Theresienstadt. The campus includes a museum, art exhibition halls, library, educational center, and archives holding thousands of original artifacts from the Ghetto. For further information, visit the Beit Theresienstadt website, or search the archives at Beit Theresienstadt by clicking here.

We’d like to thank E. Randol Schoenberg for his support in preparing this database.  Special thanks to Nolan Altman, Director of Special Projects and Coordinator of the Holocaust Database, for his continued devotion and dedication to JewishGen's important work.
