### 2. Analysis of Ambiguous / Faded Surnames (starting with ע / ו / ז)

* **Row 4**
* **Transcribed Text:** עזריה בוארון
* **Reason for Ambiguity:** The surname **בוארון** begins with an elongated **ב** that loops near the preceding **ע** in *Azariah*, creating visual overlap between the initial **ע** and the title abbreviation.

* **Row 11**
* **Transcribed Text:** וזאן
* **Reason for Ambiguity:** Starts with **ו** followed by **ז** in Solitreo cursive; both character strokes consist of vertical down-strokes with slight top hooks, making them look like parallel ticks or **וו**. Contextual Sephardic surname knowledge (Wazan/Ouazzan) confirms **וזאן**.

* **Row 16**
* **Transcribed Text:** עטייה
* **Reason for Ambiguity:** Starts with initial **ע** where the left arm extends downward into the **ט**, causing the letter **ט** to merge into a single cursive loop that resembles **עא** or **עי**.

* **Row 18**
* **Transcribed Text:** [עטאל / עטייה / עזריה]
* **Reason for Ambiguity:** Ink fade along the left manuscript edge. The surname starts with an initial **ע** or **ו**, but trailing letterforms are compressed into a single flourish, rendering the exact surname ambiguous between *Attal* and *Attiah*.
