9/8/2026 4:21 AM This letter is from Abel(?) Barkan to Rabbi Pinchas Leyb (Freudiger), rabbi of Óbuda. He mentions that he had learned much from him when he was in Rabbi Yehuda Semnitz's house (maybe they were fellow students of R. Semnitz). He states that a man called Schiller, whom Rabbi Freudiger had allowed to preach, was in fact a heretic. One of his sermons was enclosed with this letter to demonstrate. The writer asks the recipient to burn this letter after reading it.
Dated the day after Sukkot 5607 (14 October 1846), Shebl.
