Would like to know date of birth, parents' names (patronymics if available), ages, occupations, address in Targu Ocna, origin outside Romania (I believe they were Austrian citizens), relationship to witnesses, any other genealogically relevant information. The document comes from Bacau County records recently released by the JewishGen Romania Research Division. Birth Certificate
Issued on May 26, 1896,11 a.m. Birth certificate of Estera, female of Jewish faith, born yesterday at 9 p.m in the parents' house, Geasuni suburb, Daughter of Simon Shehner, 36 years old, carpenter and of Hanna Shehner, 32 years old, without a profession, of Jewish faith. Residents of Targu Ocna. This, according to the declaration made by Moise Goldinberg, 60 years old, furrier, residing in Targu-Ocna. Godfather of the girl who entrusted us that he was personally present during the birth. Witnesses were: Iancu Meer, 60 years old, stonemason and Iancu Rahmil, 60 years old, sheepskin waistcoat maker. Both of them, residents of Targu Ocna' undersigned this certificate together with us and the declarant, after reading it according to the law. Panaite Gania, Civil Status Officer, at the parents' house. The declarant and the witnesses are illiterate.

My note: Shehner (Sehner, S with a cedilla read as Sh) is the Romanian transliteration of Schächner, an Yiddish Jewish name.
