We are seeking the Hebrew maiden name (translated into English) shown in this page from a family register of marriages births and deaths of Phirely Benjamin, in the hope of discovering her father's name and any other relevant genealogical information. Phirely was the second wife of Lyon Benjamin and died in 1820 (born about 1779). She was mother of Solomon Benjamin

Thank you. Does the record give a name for Phirely that we could use in English (eg is it Phirely, or Phiretz as has been suggested?)
3/8/2012 2:52 AM Bea,

there is a given name, but quite untypical. I would guess they meant "Peireleh", a Yiddish diminutive from Perl.

The Hebrew spelling is פיירלי, which would be best transliterated as "Fairly" or "Pairly".

Hope that helps.

Best regards,
Witold Wrzosinski
