Acknowledgements

Special thanks to the following individuals and organizations:

  1. Esther Porat of Israel, who donated her original copy of the Kiliya Yizkor Book and its supplements to JewishGen in 2004. We have used this copy for our translation and layout project.
  2. Several individual donors who contributed funds to help cover costs associated with the book's translation and publication.
  3. Sheli Fain of Toronto, Canada, who donated her professional services to translate the Hebrew, Yiddish, and Romanian texts in the entire book and supplements.
  4. Martin Roberts, head of the Linguistic Systems Inc. (“LSI”) and its LSI Foundation in Boston, Massachusetts, who approved the LSI Foundation's grant to cover the cost of the Russian translation and layout of the English version of the book, above and beyond the funds contributed by the several individual donors. He also provided his company's Linguistic Systems Inc. Russian translator, Lucile McKay, who translated the entire Russian text, and invaluable staff assistance from Jasmine Kayyali, Jill Orenstein, and Jessica Riley.
  5. Fay Bussgang, who co-edited this translation project with me, Ronald Killian.

Notes

With translation of the Russian and Hebrew texts, we have learned that much of these texts cover the same subject matter, but they do not always provide the same details. Our Russian translator has determined that most of the dual language text is Russian in origin, with the Hebrew translation as the secondary, complementary language. The yizkor book's English version shows translated text in both languages where differences occur, so the reader can compare the Russian and Hebrew versions.

JewishGen, Inc. is not responsible for inaccuracies or omissions in the original work and makes no representations regarding the accuracy of this translation. The mission of the JewishGen organization is to produce a translation of the original work, and we cannot verify the accuracy of statements or alter facts cited.
