The German-Jewish Special Interest Group (GerSIG), a part of JewishGen, is a group of researchers dedicated to learning more about the lives of our Jewish ancestors who lived in current and former German-speaking regions of Europe. This includes not only modern-day Germany, but also regions that are today part of Poland.
GerSIG actively looks to collect and exchange histories, resources, data, and research tips. We do this online through this website, our discussion list and the JewishGen Germany database. We meet annually at the IAJGS genealogy conference, where GerSIG sponsors a speaker. GerSIG is also one of the sponsors of the Obermayer German Jewish History Awards, which honor non-Jewish Germans who help preserve local Jewish history.
GerSIG couldn't exist without its dedicated members. Please join us by signing up for our discussion list or volunteering for a GerSIG project!

Please note that this website is a work in progress. We are still working to complete a comprehensive list of the thousand of towns and cities within Germany that once had Jewish communities.
