Tip: if you don't know the district and/or province of your town, use the "Town Search" box in the right top corner or the page and visit your town page before using this search
Geographic search: The geographic search, as the whole site, is based on the 1910 administrative structure of the region.
If "All provinces" selected, the search will look for all geographical areas.
If "General" is selected, the search will only search will restrain the results to specific "general" document collections for the whole region.
If a Province is selected, the district dropdown will be filled with the corresponding districts.
If "All districts" selected, the search will look for all districts in the selected province.
If "No districts" selected, the search will look only for "province specific" document collections.
If a district is selected, the town dropdown will be filled with the corresponding towns.
If "All towns" selected, the search will look for all towns in the selected district.
If "No town"s selected, the search will look only for "district specific" document collections.
If a town is selected, the search will be limited to the town "specific" document collections.
Document Type: Can limit the search results to a specific document type.
Keyword: The keyword allows to search for specific information in the title, description and period of the document collection (i.e. a specific year).
Keyword is optional. If left blank, the search will be limited by the other criterias of the search.
Sortable columns: By clicking on a column header you can sort the table by that column
Geographic Area: By clicking on the name of the resulting geographic area (province, district, town) you'll be redirected to the corresponding province/district/area page.
See collection details (magnifiying glass icon): By clicking this option you'll be redirected to the collection page where more information on the collection will be displayed
Open collection (open book icon): This icon only appears if the collection is viewable on internet (can be outside JewishGen). By clicking it, the collection address will be opened in a new window
