Chabad House and Synagogue is at the Chabad Lubavitch Centre, Doris Shpiro House, 395 Eastern Avenue, Gants Hill, Ilford, Essex IG2 6LR (since 2001).

(From 2013 until about 2017, the Centre moved temporarily to Gaysham Ave, Gants Hill, whilst the Eastern Ave premises were demolished, to be replaced with a new 4,000 sq foot facility.)

Unlike the other branches or chapters of CLE-NELE, Chabad Lubavitch for Havering does not (yet) maintain an independent corporate filing nor its own building or personnel (nor a separate page on JCR-UK). It was launched in February 2020 by Rabbi and Mrs Sufrin and operates directly out of the CLE-NELE headquarters in Gants Hill. It serves the outer London Borough of Havering (the most easterly of all London Boroughs), focusing on Collier Row, Romford, Hornchurch, Upminster, and Rainham.(iii)

Chabad Lubavitch Centres North East London and Essex Limited was incorporated on 21 November 2007 (initially under the name Chabad Lubavitch Centre North East London and Essex Limited until 15 August 2017) as a registered (non-profit) company (company no. 06432715), a private company limited by guarantee without a share capital.(vi)

Under the same name, it is also a registered charity (registered charity no. 1123001), registered on 28 February 2008.(vii)

Local Government District:

The suburb of Ilford in Northeast London is within the London Borough of Redbridge, an outer London borough created on 1 April 1965, within the administrative area of Greater London.

Prior to 1965, Ilford was in the former Municipal Borough of Ilford (which was an urban district until 1926) in the county of Essex.(viii)
