HISTORY

"Last July my wife, Vicki and I joined Gary Mokotoff and Eileen Polakoff on their first summer Jewish genealogy research trip to Salt Lake City. It was such a rewarding experience that we decided that we should encourage and promote Jewish genealogy in the New Orleans area. Therefore we embarked upon the creation of the Jewish Genealogy Society of New Orleans in January, 1995. To say the least, our Society has quickly taken off by leaps and bounds. Our first meeting had eleven persons in attendance and has grown each month to where our last meeting (July) was attended by thirty four people seeking to learn (about) their Jewish roots."

Jacob Karno, Fall 1995.
