This database contains information on 934 residents of Württemberg from mixed marriages who submitted registration forms to the Stuttgart Jewish community.
During the Nazi years, persons in mixed marriages (Jewish-Christian) and their children were often protected from deportation and received special treatment. Even though their treatment was unfavorable compared to non-Jewish residents, it did permit them to survive. After the war, many couples and their children registered with surviving Jewish communities in the hope or receiving assistance.
This database identifies 934 Württemberg residents who submitted registration forms to the Stuttgart Jewish community. The information, where available and legible, consists of names, dates and places of birth. The forms, along with accompanying letters provide considerably more information such as religion, residence (in some cases with street addresses) and employment. In addition, registrants were asked to identify relatives residing outside Germany. This information was not entered into the database.
This database includes 934 Württemberg residents who self identified themselves in mixed marriages.
