His father, Szmuel, was a violinist and his mother a piano teacher, and indeed he learned from her the elements of playing the piano. As a child prodigy, he appeared in concerts in Poland and abroad. He studied in Berlin and graduated its music academy. During the war he was in Warsaw. He was hiding and was saved. He presently lives in Poland.
