"Deneburger" (also "Deneburg") represents the traditional Germanized and early secular name used specifically for the city of Dvinsk (historically Dünaburg), now Daugavpils in Latvia.

The society is believed to have been formed in the early 1940s.(iii)

Closure:

The society is believed to have closed in about 1948.(iv)

Affiliation:

The society is included on JCR-UK as a result of its unusual listing in Jewish Year Books, namely as a constituent of the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations (UOHC).(v)

Secretary - H. Rosenberg from at least 1945 until at least 1949.(ix)

Local Government District:

Twickenham is an affluent suburb in southwest London, now in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames (established on 1 April 1965), within the administrative area of Greater London.(x)

Prior to 1965, it was within the former Municipal Borough of Twickenham (incorporated as a borough in 1926) and part of the former County of Middlesex, both of which entities were abolished in 1965.

  • (iii) Based upon the society being first listed in the Jewish Year Book 1945/6 (publication had been suspended in 1941 as World War II intensified, being resumed in 1945).

  • (iv) Based upon the society not being listed in the Jewish Year Book after 1948.

  • (v) The society was listed under the UOHC in Jewish Year Books 1945/6 through 1948.

  • (vi) and (vii) Reserved.

  • (viii) There were no ministers or readers listed for the society in Jewish Year Books.

  • (ix) Listed as the only officer on each of the three appearances in Jewish Year Books (1945/6 through 1949).

  • (x) The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, an Outer London Borough within the Greater London administrative area, was created on 1 April 1965 upon the merger of the former municipal borough of Twickenham (which was north of the river Thames and was within the former county of Middlesex) and the former municipal boroughs of Richmond and Barnes (which were south of the river Thames and were then part of the county of Surrey).

  • (xi) The former Registration Districts were: Brentford, from 1 July 1837 until 1 October 1947; and Middlesex South, from 1 October 1947 until 1 April 1965. All registers would now be held by the current register office.
