About This Project
The goal of this project is to translate the Różan Memorial Book (Sefer Zikaron le-kehilat Rozan al ha-Narew) from the original Yiddish/Hebrew version into English. Professional translators will breathe life into the articles written by the survivors of the Holocaust to document and memorialize the community of Różan.
There are millions of stories lost in the shadow of the Holocaust. This English translation will release a wealth of information to researchers, historians, and those interested in Różan. Through the collective memories and photographs, our knowledge of a vibrant world, prior to and during the Holocaust, will be vastly expanded.
By this remembrance, we will have negated the Nazi regime’s goal of obliterating the Jewish existence.
The Różan Memorial Book is a tribute to all who perished and a testament of survival.
Project Details
The translation is funded solely by donations, which are tax deductible. The translators will work on each article as they appear in the original book. As sections are translated, they will be uploaded to the JewishGen Yizkor Book Project. Once the entire translation is completed, reviewed and edited, JewishGen Press will publish the book.
