Formation and Affiliation:

The first service of the Haringey / Stoke Newington Masorti Group were held on Yom Kippur 2007.(iii) In about 2009, the Group became an associate of Masorti Judaism (known as the Assembly of Masorti Synagogue until 2012) and the "Shul's" membership dates from about 2011.(iv)

The "Shul" was an associate member of Masorti Judaism from 2011 until 2014 or 2015, when it became a constituent synagogue.(v)

The congregation is a registered (non-profit) company, New Stoke Newington Shul (company no. 07832581), a private company limited by guarantee without a share capital (and with an exemption from use of the word 'Limited'), incorporated on 2 November 2011. The congregation is also a registered charity (no. 1176510).(x)

Local Government District:

Stoke Newington, in North London, is in the London Borough of Hackney, an Inner London Borough within the administrative area of Greater London, both of which entities were established on 1 April 1965.

  • (iv) The Masorti Group was listed (under the Assembly of Masorti Synagogues) in Jewish Year Books from 2010 through 2013. The "Shul' was first listed (also under the Assembly of Masorti Synagogues) in the Jewish Year Book 2013. Accordingly, there was an overlap of one year (2013) when both entities were listed. Accordingly. it is unclear whether the two enties were separate or whether one was the predecessor of the other. .

  • (v) The congregation was defined as an associate member in the annual reports of Masoti Judaism filed for the periods / years ended 30 April 2012, 31 August 2013 and 31 August 2014 and as a constituent synagogue in the reports filed for the years ended 31 August 2015 until the latest annual report, filed for 2017 (see note (ix) below).
