The local administrator of the city of Lieberose, Germany, has provided a list of 142 Jewish male prisoners sent to the Lieberose sub-camp of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp from Auschwitz.

The list consists of mostly Hungarian and Polish Jews.  A partial check indicates that these names do not appear in the ITS CNI (International Tracing Service Central Names Index).  In some cases a locality is mentioned, but it is not clear whether this is a place of birth or place from which they were sent to Auschwitz (e.g.: does "Lodz ghetto" signify place of birth or place where a person was sent?).  Several French Jews were included, but, again, it is not clear whether "aus Grenoble" means place of birth.  What is unusual about this list is that in almost all cases the length of time the prisoner had been held in Auschwitz is given, as well as whether they were sent direct to Lieberose or via Sachsenhausen itself.  The fate of these prisoners is not given.

This database includes the names of 142 residents from Lieberose who were sent to Sachsenhausen.  Some of the individuals on this list were released from Sachsenhausen only to return again.  Therefore, there are more records (150) than individual names (142).

A copy of this list will reside at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum to be included in their "Name Search" and another copy will be held in their Registry.
