The Jewish Community of Cottbus

Cottbus is a middle sized city in eastern Germany, west of Berlin. Before the Holocaust it had a Jewish population of close to 500 persons. Much as was the case for the bulk of German Jews, the community was relatively well off, and integrated into the overall economy and population, and even intermarriage was not unusual.
