In about 1980(ii) the Commercial Road Talmud Torah Synagogue in London's East End (listed separately) closed and relocated to Stamford Hill.

The Congregation was affiliated to Federation of Synagogues at the time of its relocation to Stamford Hill, but became independent in about 1989.(iv)

After the Congregation became independent, burials took place at the Cemeteries of the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations - at Carterhatch Lane, Enfield and Silver Street, Cheshunt.(vi)

  • (i) The road Stamford Hill, in North London, is a three-quarters of a mile (south-north) stretch of the A10, from Stoke Newington High Street, in the south, to the start of Tottenham High Road, in the north. The district of Stamford Hill, together with some adjoining areas, now includes the largest concentration of Haredi Jews in Europe.

  • (ii) The Congregation was listed for the first time with the Stamford Hill address in the Jewish Year Book 1981, or possibly in 1980 edition.

  • (iii) Based upon the Congregation being listed for the last time in the Jewish Year Book 2007.

  • (iv) The Jewish Year Books to 1989 show affiliation to the Federation, but editions from 1990 list the Congregation as independent.

  • (v) The London Borough of Hackney, an Inner London Borough within the Greater London administrative area, was created on 1 April 1965 upon the merger of the former Metropolitan Boroughs of Hackney, Stoke Newington and Shoreditch..

  • (vi) Jewish Year Books to 1991 through 2007.
