Background

This data file contains the names of displaced persons from various countries who were in Bergen-Belsen and moved to Sweden.  The file is dated 14 July 1945.  The collection contains information from records of the UNRRA (United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration) European Regional Office.  The official citation: United Nations Archives S-0523-0646, UNRRA, European Regional Office.  The files are also available at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC [USHMM Acc. 1997.A. 0235, Reel 5].

There are 1,606 records in the collection.

There are 9 nationality sub-lists within this collection.  Each sub-list covers a "partial list of Displaced Persons who were moved under the general supervision of UNRRA from Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp to Sweden, for special care."  Page 4 of the Hungarian sub-list is missing.

The sub-lists are for the following nationalities: Austrian (14 persons), Czechoslovakian (290), Dutch (9), Greek (13), Hungarian (361), Italian (3), Polish (744), Romanian (133), and Yugoslavian (41 persons).
