Personalities of Dynow

Translated by William Leibner

Edited by Phyllis Kramer

The book already mentioned rabbis and famous scholars. The hamlet also produced some talented and famous personalities amongst them were Leib Landau who defended Shteiger. The latter was accused by the Polish nationalist students that he threw a bomb at the president of Poland, Wiaczechowski. At the trial, he showed remarkable skills as a young attorney and a conducted a brilliant defense strategy that destroyed the charge as well as the testimonies that the prosecutor presented on behalf of the case. Shteiger was freed and the reputation of the attorney grew since the case was followed by the Jewish press throughout the world. He was frequently invited to give lectures abroad. He perished in Lemberg at the hands of the Germans.

The famous attorney and social minded activist Goldhamer was also born in Dynow.
