Introduction by Arthur Halpern

"I have… a little booklet of remembrances  of life in the town Klimontow, Poland written in Yiddish by a late kin of mine in 1966. A friend and I have translated this into English… The writer died [in 1974 in Israel]. So did his wife [in 1979]. They had no children and very few relatives. He wrote the booklet of remembrances "to leave something behind", had it printed privately in a very few copies, and distributed it to some kin and friends. There is no indication of who printed it. I can't find anyone now in 2002 that has a copy. It seems that I may have the only copy.

The booklet tells in beautiful Yiddish prose about the life in Klimontow in about 105 4-line stanzas with a few lines of introduction and a few photos/illustrations. The reflections on the life there in that period – about 1900-1930 – are very charming and informative. Our translation into English doesn't rhyme like his, but it does transmit the writer's "picture" very faithfully. We are sure that many JewishGen members would find it very informative, interesting, even entertaining."
