The Landsmanschafts and the Story of the United Brisker Relief (cont.)

1924

Brest slowly rebuilt its life, which became more normal than the first years after the war. People who had relatives in Brest began sending money directly to them. Thanks to the publicity in the press the Relief had assisted the rebuilding of the city and its inhabitants. The call from individuals to their relatives became stronger and consequently the main work of fundraising for the Relief weakened.

In the years 1925-27 there were several meetings that took place at the Brisker Shul on Allen St .in N.Y. In 1927 the fundraising activity was weak, but those that remained found it difficult to leave the organization. The idea was raised to build a Brisker Center that would conduct cultural activities and provide a place for those newly arrived from Brest.
