Information Question
Category: Do you recognize?
Family Surname: Lasutra, Lester, Stepensky
Country: USA
Town: New York
Date of Image: 1920's
  Have you seen this photo?

It was brought to the U.S. by a relative of mine who insists "it was always in the family". Unfortunately, there is no one to ask any longer for details.

The photo was taken in the Gus Studio (Gustav "Gus" Wittmayer) at 156 Rivington Street in Manhattan, likely in the 1920's. It was sent to relatives back in Ukraine. The only family connection we know of is the Lasutra family, who originated in Puliny (Chevonoarmijsk/Krasnoarmejsk in Soviet yers) and lived in Novograd-Volynsky, Vinnitsa, and possibly Kiev before WWII. In the free world, there were two Lasutra brothers who lived in Toronto and Jerusalem. Additionally, just now, the cousin who has the original suggested a connection to a Stepensky family in Ukraine.

Thank you!
