Information Question
Category: Tombstone
Family Surname: ALGAZE
Country: USA
Town: Queens/Brooklyn
Date of Image: February 2011
This is a tombstone of Elia/Elias/Eliahu ALGAZE, born about 1855, died 20 Apr 1916 in New York City. He was born in Istanbul and came to the US in 1913. He probably died during the 1916/1917 flu epidemic. The writing on the tombstone is pretty deteriorated. The letters are Hebrew, however I believe that the language is Ladino. Anything you can translate would be greatly appreciated. With many thanks. Barbara Algaze,
