On the front page of the foto one can see a school "skola" and another building with the label: "Simseny Obchod Jos. Stranskeho." Is there an explanation why one chooses exactly these buildings on a postcard? One is a public building and the other one a private house, at least this is what I believe. Josef Stransky, who is mentioned on the inscription of the house, was the father to Valerie Stein (born Stransky) and mother to my grandfather Franz Stein, from Statenice. As a kid, Franz Stein, spent some years with his grandparents, this around 1920. I do not really understand Czech and therefore cannot read what Richard Stransky - a son to Josef Stransky - wrote to his sister Hermine Eckstein who lived in Vienna, Austria.

9/28/2022 7:36 PM Dear Hermi!
Here I am sending you our villa/house, what do you say to that?
How much does M Guido (?) take daily? Wrote (it is written?) that he is a trickster/ "wise guy".
Best wishes,
Your Richard

The first picture is a school. The second is a store, selling "mixed goods." The sign appears to read "Mixed Goods Store of Joseph Stransky (long y)."

These buildings must have been chosen for the postcard because they were at least minor landmarks, or were the subject of some civic pride.
