This is a record from the Lutheran archives in Darmstadt relating to the conversion of Bernhard Herschel to Lutheranism.

6/4/2019 2:44 AM After reading the documents, especially the last one, I have my doubts as to whether the baptism took place at all. Herrschel only had 14 days of baptismal instruction and, as this document says, he is "pushed by his circumstances to leave". The priest who gave him the baptismal instruction needed a permit from the consistory to be allowed to baptize. But this was not granted immediately.
6/4/2019 2:53 AM The Frankfurt Senat on 2 November 1820 gave permission for the baptism and it did in fact occur.
