I'd like a translation/explanation of the Hebrew - esp. if it provides any information on his parents or place of birth.

Avraham SHLONSKY
died 22 Elul 5689

The last two lines appear to be a Yiddish expression of the English below: Fighter for a free humanity.
11/15/2018 3:51 PM Hello Rusty,

The translation of the Hebrew on the tombstone is as follows:

"Here lies Avrohom Shlonsky, who died on the 22nd day of the Hebrew month of Elul............"

11/16/2018 3:29 AM The Yiddish under the Hebrew translates as : A FIGHTER IS A FREE MAN - which of course pars with the English sentiment at the bottom of the gravestone
11/16/2018 4:24 AM I’d render it “warrior for a free mankind,” so it exactly corresponds to the English.
