2 questions:
1. Please translate line 24. (for Abraham Isaac WEISS - my maternal grandfather - I know the dob, name, & parents' names are correct, but the parents listed different versions of their names & places on different birth records for siblings of my grandfather known to me, & listed also previously on ViewMate: Salomon WEISS (30 July 1894) and Sadie WEISS (17 Dec 1886?) ViewMate Posting 68954.
2. Are these the same parents as for Juda WEISZ, 21 May 1886 (listed also here on ViewMate) ViewMate Posting 68955?

3/17/2019 9:02 PM Hello Barrie,

1887 Birth Registry
#24

Izsak Abraham, boy, born on March 10th, legitimate*

Father - Hersko Weisz (Hebrew name Hersh Melech), born in the country (of Hungary?), butcher.

Mother Chaje Weisz, born in Oroszveg

Midwife - Roza Sieher from Munkacz

Circumcized by Schije Bernhorn from Munkaca on March 17th.

Koma - Male honored to hold the baby during circumcision - Chaim Mos(h)e Lichtenstein from Klastromalj/Klastromaly

The name Hersko is merely the secular Hungarian name for Hers. In this document there is a Hebrew name also listed for him.

Since some of the information is different, including the occupation, you might want to check this closely against some of your other documents. Also, you may have noticed the asterisk indicating that this birth was listed as legitimate. Also, not sure what is meant by born in the country. Perhaps that means born in Hungary, but I'm not sure about that.

Jo

I seem to remember looking for this "Ország" place before, without success. Of course it doesn't help that it means "nation, country".... (I also tried it as "Arszág", but no luck.)
