9/4/2018 9:57 AM Badanov appears to be a Ukrainian or Russian surname. I found only 1 Badanov at Yad Vashem, none at USHMM, JRI/Poland, or a database of Polish surnames. If you google the name you will get quite a few hits. Also none on Jewishgen family finder. It seems possible that it wasn’t a Jewish surname. Or that the Jewish population in Grodno/Hrodna was so thoroughly destroyed that only non-Jews with this name survive. Many surnames can be both Jewish and Christian.
